BIG NEWS!!!
So today
was a day filled with some very exciting events. Two big ones actually…
So I went to the supermarket and
bought my first French Wine!!! I am super excited to try it and I will have
more details to follow. It is in the French version of Wal-Mart, Carrefour, that I decided
to buy it. When I was trying to figure out what one I wanted I went back to the
tips that Pachi, see blog below, told us about. I selected a rose wine and just
went for it.
Here is the bottle that I bought. It is 2012 which you want younger in white and rose wines. You also want to serve them cold rather than oxidized/warm.
To begin
this next story I currently live with 4 French roommates on my flat. There are
no other Americans or people from the program with me on my floor so it has
made things a little interesting. But every time I see them I always make sure
to say what little French I know and they have always been really smiley and
applaud my small attempts. Today was a big step and I tried to hold a longer
conversation with them in French. They helped me through it but I ended up
finding out their names are Julianne (a pretty easy one to pronounce), Anne
(also easy), Camille (a little harder) and Clémonce (I really struggle with
this one). After a while I went to the market and hung out with some people by
the pond that is near the university. When I arrived to my room THERE WAS A
NOTE ON THE DOOR!!! Yes, me, Nathan Laudan, has been invited to dinner on
Sunday with 4 lovely French women. They provided me with a menu and everything
and wrote it all in French for me to try and understand. I got the gist of it
when I was trying to work my way through, in that they want to help me work on
my French and get to know me better, then I had to translate the rest. But… I
AM SO PUMPED GUYS!!! It is going to be my first home-cooked French meal and
hopefully I learn a lot! Details to come later.
Here is my invite from my "colocataires"... my roommates! I AM SO PUMPED!
But these
were two important pieces today and I cannot wait to share with you my
experiences from the dinner date!
